2025 HUB Application

The Community Doula Program (CDP) is a project of Heart of the Valley Birth and Beyond (HVBB), a 501(c)3 organization,  developed in partnership with InterCommunity Health Network Coordinated Care Organization to provide culturally, socially, and linguistically matched doula care to Medicaid families in Oregon. Our mission is to improve health equity and the well-being of pregnant and parenting families in the mid-Willamette Valley through advocacy, education, resource coordination, research, and the provision of direct services offered by Traditional Health Worker (THW) Doulas and certified breastfeeding specialists.

The CDP recruits, trains, and connects clients to THW Doulas. CDP Doulas come from the same communities they serve, including Medicaid priority populations (e.g., individuals who are English language learners, racially and ethnically diverse, underhoused, have a history of incarceration or substance use disorder, pregnant or parenting adolescents, medically high-risk, as well as those with low or no social support).

In order to be sustainable, the program needs committed, motivated doulas that match the communities being served.  If you are bilingual or bicultural, from a rural area, have lived experience with housing insecurity or substance use, are part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and/or are Black, Indigenous, or from any other community of color, we strongly encourage you to submit an application. Everyone is welcome to apply.

We thank you for your interest in being a part of the CDP. We believe in building community solutions to our maternal health crisis in the United States, and we are dedicated to sharing our experiences with families and communities looking to do the same. A healthy community begins with a healthy birth.
